Free Range Slacks (Sew House Seven)

Everyone needs comfy, yet stylish, casual wear!  The Free Range Slacks pattern is as easy to wear as its name - you will feel “free to roam” in comfort when wearing these elastic high waist pants.  Other features include deep front slash pockets, side panels that make this design unique, two leg styles to choose from (tapered or straight/cropped leg), and optional back pocket(s).  There is a lot of topstitching to bring a very professional look to your garment.

Skills that will be covered in this class include how to make front pockets with a facing along the pocket’s edge, installing side panels using flat-felled seams for a more finished look when pant legs are rolled up, applying a waist band facing that will serve as a casing for the elastic waist, and how to do a basic hem.

Although the pattern was designed with linen in mind, other bottom weight fabrics that aren’t too heavy also work such as cotton/linen blends, cotton twill, rayon/linen blends, light to mid-weight denim, tencel twill cotton poplin and wool gabardine.
