Have a serger (aka overlocker) but unsure where to start? This hands-on class is perfect for beginners and those who want to get more confident with their machine. Together, we’ll demystify the serger and explore how it can become your go-to tool for fast, professional finishes.

In this class, you’ll learn:

  • The fundamentals of how a serger works and what makes it different from a sewing machine

  • How to properly thread your machine (yes, even the tricky loopers!)

  • When and how to use different stitches on both knits and woven fabrics

  • Essential serging techniques like navigating curves and corners, securing thread tails, and clean finishing

  • Troubleshooting tips for common issues like tension, skipped stitches, and fabric puckering

You’ll go home with:

  • Increased confidence using your serger for everyday sewing

  • A set of practice swatches showing a variety of stitches and fabric types

  • A cheat sheet for threading, tension settings, and troubleshooting
